Resúmen de la situación económica
Para 2026 el Consejo de Representantes fijó los salarios mínimos en 440.87 pesos diarios en la Zona Libre de la Frontera Norte (ZLFN) y 315.04 pesos diarios en la Zona del Salario Mínimo General (ZSMG). En términos reales, la ZSMG presento una recuperación del poder adquisitivo de 8.9% anual, mientras que la ZLFN presento una recuperación de 1.2%, es decir, ambas zonas se recuperaron respecto a enero de 2025.
En enero de 2026, el Índice Nacional de Precios al Consumidor (INPC) mostró un aumento de 0.38% mensual y a tasa anual se ubicó en 3.79%. Por su parte, el componente subyacente, que se caracteriza por ser una mejor medida para evaluar la trayectoria de los precios porque excluye artículos de gran volatilidad, registró una variación mensual de 0.60% y anual de 4.52 por ciento.
El Indicador Global de la Actividad Económica (IGAE) mostró en noviembre de 2025 una disminución respecto al mes previo de 0.2% y un incremento de 1.1% en comparación anual; por su parte, se prevé que en el mes de diciembre se tenga un alza de 0.2% mensual y de 2.3% a tasa anual; para enero de 2026 se prevé un crecimiento de 0.3% mensual y 2.3% anual.
En el mercado laboral formal, el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), al cierre de enero, registró un total de 22 millones 508 mil 972 personas. Con un avance anual de 0.9 por ciento.
Por su parte, el salario base de cotización promedio de las personas trabajadoras aseguradas se ubicó en 662.83 pesos diarios. En términos reales y con cifras ajustadas por estacionalidad, se registró una variación anual de 3.5 por ciento.
Al mes de diciembre de 2025, con cifras de la Encuesta Nacional de Ocupación y Empleo (ENOE) del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI), la población ocupada sumó un total de 60 millones 379 mil 41 de personas trabajadoras, que representa un aumento respecto al mes previo de 0.9% y de 1.8% en comparación anual. La tasa de desempleo se ubicó en 2.6 por ciento.
Respecto al Producto Interno Bruto (PIB), al cuarto trimestre de 2025 y con cifras desestacionalizadas, se tuvo un crecimiento de 0.9% respecto al trimestre previo y de 1.8% en comparación anual.

Summary of the Economic Situation
For 2026, the Council of Representatives set the minimum wage at 440.87 pesos per day in the Northern Border Free Zone (ZLFN) and 315.04 pesos per day in the General Minimum Wage Zone (ZSMG). In real terms, the ZSMG showed an 8.9% annual recovery in purchasing power, while the ZLFN showed a 1.2% recovery; that is, both zones recovered compared to January 2025.
In January 2026, the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) showed a monthly increase of 0.38% and an annual rate of 3.79%. Meanwhile, the core inflation component, which is a better measure of price trends because it excludes highly volatile items, registered a monthly variation of 0.60% and an annual variation of 4.52%.
The Global Indicator of Economic Activity (IGAE) showed a decrease of 0.2% compared to the previous month in November 2025 and an increase of 1.1% year-on-year. A monthly increase of 0.2% and an annual increase of 2.3% are projected for December, while growth of 0.3% monthly and 2.3% annually is expected for January 2026.
In the formal labor market, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) registered a total of 22,508,972 people at the end of January, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.9%.
Meanwhile, the average daily wage used for social security contributions for insured workers was 662.83 pesos. In real terms and with seasonally adjusted figures, there was a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent.

Regarding Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in the fourth quarter of 2025, with seasonally adjusted figures, there was a growth of 0.9% compared to the previous quarter and 1.8% year-on-year.
