• Al 31 de julio de 2026, se tienen registrados ante el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) 22,760,154 (veintidós millones setecientos sesenta mil ciento cincuenta y cuatro) puestos de trabajo, la cuarta cifra más alta desde que se tenga registro y la mayor para un mes de julio. De este total, el 87.0% (ochenta y siete punto cero por ciento) corresponde a puestos permanentes y el 13.0% (trece punto cero por ciento) a eventuales. En particular, los puestos permanentes alcanzaron 19,797,516 (diecinueve millones setecientos noventa y siete mil quinientos dieciséis), la tercera cifra más alta para cualquier mes de la serie histórica.
• En julio se registró una baja mensual de 19,550 (diecinueve mil quinientos cincuenta) puestos, equivalente a una tasa negativa de 0.1% (cero punto uno por ciento). Este resultado refleja, entre otros factores, la estacionalidad asociada al fin del ciclo escolar y en parte a la etapa descendente del ciclo agrícola.
• Con lo anterior, la creación de empleo en lo que va del año es de 243,078 (doscientos cuarenta y tres mil setenta y ocho) puestos, de los cuales el 95.4% (noventa y cinco punto cuatro por ciento) corresponde a trabajo permanente.
• En los últimos doce meses se registró un crecimiento de 326,987 (trescientos veintiséis mil novecientos ochenta y siete) puestos de trabajo, equivalente a una tasa anual de 1.5% (uno punto cinco por ciento).
• Los sectores económicos con el mayor crecimiento porcentual anual en puestos de trabajo son transportes y comunicaciones, con 7.5% (siete punto cinco por ciento); extractivo, con 4.3% (cuatro punto tres por ciento) y servicios sociales y comunales, con 3.3% (tres punto tres por ciento). Por entidad federativa destacan Baja California y Oaxaca con aumentos anuales superiores a 5.5% (cinco punto cinco por ciento).

SE REGISTRÓ UN SALARIO PROMEDIO DE $673.9

• Al cierre de julio de 2026, el salario base de cotización promedio de los puestos de trabajo afiliados al IMSS alcanzó un monto de $673.9 (seiscientos setenta y tres punto nueve pesos), el más alto para cualquier mes desde que se tenga registro.
• Este salario presenta, en su comparación anual, un cambio nominal de $42.4 (cuarenta y dos punto cuatro pesos), el quinto mayor incremento registrado para un mes de julio desde que se tiene registro.

EN JULIO SE REGISTRA LA AFILIACIÓN DE MÁS DE UN MILLÓN DE REGISTROS PATRONALES

• Al 31 de julio de 2026, se tienen inscritos ante el Instituto 1,013,054 (un millón trece mil cincuenta y cuatro) registros patronales, con una variación mensual negativa de 2,046 (dos mil cuarenta y seis) registros, equivalente a una tasa de -0.2% (menos cero punto dos por ciento). En comparación con julio de 2025, la variación fue de -2.5% (menos dos punto cinco por ciento).
• Cabe señalar que los registros patronales no equivalen a empresas o negocios, sino que son unidades de carácter administrativo utilizadas por el IMSS para identificar y dar seguimiento a las obligaciones de los patrones. Por ello, su disminución no debe interpretarse automáticamente como destrucción o cierre de empresas. La dinámica de los registros patronales puede responder a diversos factores adicionales a las bajas generadas por los patrones, como procesos de depuración, medidas de seguridad institucional, validaciones regulatorias, cumplimiento de obligaciones, actualización de datos o baja de registros duplicados, inactivos o improcedentes. En consecuencia, el afirmar que una reducción en el número de registros patronales implica necesariamente el cierre de empresas es incorrecto y técnicamente inadecuado.

ADICIONALMENTE, EL IMSS PROPORCIONA SEGURIDAD SOCIAL A 8.3 MILLONES DE PERSONAS EN OTRAS MODALIDADES DE OCUPACIÓN

• Al 31 de julio de 2026, se registran 7,903,992 (siete millones novecientos tres mil novecientos noventa y dos) personas afiliadas al Seguro Facultativo que cuentan con los servicios médicos del IMSS.
• Se registran 139,731 (ciento treinta y nueve mil setecientos treinta y un) afiliados al Seguro de Salud para la Familia, a través del cual se brinda atención médica a personas que se incorporan voluntariamente al IMSS.
• Un total de 267,678 (doscientos sesenta y siete mil seiscientos setenta y ocho) personas aseguradas en el esquema de Continuación Voluntaria del Régimen Obligatorio.

PLATAFORMAS DIGITALES

•  Al cierre de julio de 2026 se registraron 1,591,030 (un millón quinientos noventa y un mil treinta) personas beneficiadas con la reforma en materia de plataformas digitales. De ellas, 247,900 (doscientos cuarenta y siete mil novecientos) superaron el umbral del ingreso neto mensual y fueron registradas por dieciocho plataformas digitales como puestos de trabajo, lo que les permite acceder a todos los seguros del IMSS (Enfermedad y Maternidad; Riesgos de Trabajo; Invalidez y Vida; Retiro, Cesantía en Edad Avanzada y Vejez; Guarderías y Prestaciones Sociales).
• Al 31 de julio se registró una variación mensual de 10,273 (diez mil doscientos setenta y tres) puestos de plataformas digitales, equivalente a un incremento de 4.3% (cuatro punto tres por ciento) respecto al mes previo.
• El salario promedio diario asociado es de $415.6 (cuatrocientos quince punto seis pesos).
• Al cumplirse un año de la incorporación de las personas trabajadoras de plataformas digitales al IMSS, se registró un incremento de 115,059 (ciento quince mil cincuenta y nueve) puestos de trabajo, lo que representa un crecimiento de 86.6% (ochenta y seis punto seis por ciento) en estos doce meses.
• Las personas beneficiarias de la reforma de plataformas digitales que no superaron el umbral del ingreso neto mensual, quedan cubiertas con el seguro de riesgos de trabajo que los protege en caso de accidentes en trayecto o enfermedad durante el desempeño del servicio que se presta a través de la plataforma digital, el cual brinda el derecho de pago del 100% de su salario registrado durante el tiempo que dure la incapacidad, además de atención médica, quirúrgica, farmacéutica y hospitalaria.

59,414 PUESTOS AFILIADOS COMO PERSONAS TRABAJADORAS DEL HOGAR

• Durante el mes de julio se registraron 59,414 (cincuenta y nueve mil cuatrocientos catorce) puestos asociados a personas trabajadoras del hogar.
• De estos 59,414 (cincuenta y nueve mil cuatrocientos catorce) puestos, se espera un total de 97,380 (noventa y siete mil trescientos ochenta) beneficiarios potenciales.
• El salario promedio diario asociado es de $510.9 (quinientos diez punto nueve pesos).

437,522 PUESTOS AFILIADOS COMO PERSONAS TRABAJADORAS INDEPENDIENTES (ASEGURAMIENTO VOLUNTARIO)

• Durante el mes de julio se registraron 437,522 (cuatrocientos treinta y siete mil quinientos veintidós) puestos asociados a personas trabajadoras independientes.
• A partir de estos puestos se estima un total de 717,099 (setecientos diecisiete mil noventa y nueve) personas beneficiarias potenciales.
• El salario promedio diario asociado es de $370.1 (trescientos setenta punto un pesos).
• Las Personas Trabajadoras Independientes cuentan con la cobertura de los cinco seguros del IMSS (Enfermedad y Maternidad; Riesgos de Trabajo; Invalidez y Vida; Retiro, Cesantía en Edad Avanzada y Vejez; Guarderías y Prestaciones Sociales) para ellos y sus beneficiarios legales.

IMSS publishes job openings affiliated with the Mexican Social Security Institute

As of July 31, 2026, 22,760,154 jobs were registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the fourth highest figure on record and the highest ever for the month of July. Of this total, 87.0% were permanent positions and 13.0% were temporary. Specifically, permanent positions reached 19,797,516, the third highest figure for any month in the historical series.

In July, there was a monthly decrease of 19,550 jobs, equivalent to a negative rate of 0.1%. This result reflects, among other factors, the seasonality associated with the end of the school year and, in part, the downward phase of the agricultural cycle.

With this, job creation so far this year totals 243,078 positions, of which 95.4% are permanent.

Over the last twelve months, there has been a growth of 326,987 jobs, equivalent to an annual rate of 1.5%.

The economic sectors with the highest annual percentage growth in jobs are transportation and communications, with 7.5%; mining, with 4.3%; and social and community services, with 3.3%. By state, Baja California and Oaxaca stand out with annual increases exceeding 5.5%.

AN AVERAGE SALARY OF $673.9 WAGES WAS RECORDED

As of the end of July 2026, the average base salary for social security contributions for jobs affiliated with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) reached $673.9 (six hundred seventy-three point nine pesos), the highest for any month on record.

This salary represents a nominal change of $42.4 (forty-two point four pesos) year-over-year, the fifth largest increase recorded for a July since records began.

In July, over one million employer registrations were recorded.

As of July 31, 2026, 1,013,054 employer registrations were registered with the Institute, representing a monthly decrease of 2,046 registrations, equivalent to a rate of -0.2%. Compared to July 2025, the decrease was -2.5%.

It should be noted that employer registrations are not equivalent to companies or businesses, but rather are administrative units used by the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute) to identify and monitor employers’ obligations. Therefore, their decrease should not be automatically interpreted as the destruction or closure of businesses. The dynamics of employer registrations can be influenced by various factors beyond employer closures, such as purging processes, institutional security measures, regulatory validations, compliance with obligations, data updates, or the removal of duplicate, inactive, or invalid registrations. Therefore, stating that a reduction in the number of employer registrations necessarily implies business closures is incorrect and technically flawed.

ADDITIONALLY, THE IMSS PROVIDES SOCIAL SECURITY TO 8.3 MILLION PEOPLE IN OTHER TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT

As of July 31, 2026, 7,903,992 (seven million nine hundred three thousand nine hundred ninety-two) people were registered under the Voluntary Insurance program and received medical services from the IMSS.

There are 139,731 (one hundred thirty-nine thousand seven hundred thirty-one) members enrolled in the Family Health Insurance program, which provides medical care to people who voluntarily join the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

A total of 267,678 (two hundred sixty-seven thousand six hundred seventy-eight) people are insured under the Voluntary Continuation of the Mandatory Regime.

DIGITAL PLATFORMS

As of the end of July 2026, 1,591,030 (one million five hundred ninety-one thousand thirty) people had benefited from the reform regarding digital platforms. Of these, 247,900 (two hundred forty-seven thousand nine hundred) exceeded the monthly net income threshold and were registered as jobs by eighteen digital platforms, granting them access to all IMSS insurance benefits (Sickness and Maternity; Occupational Risks; Disability and Life; Retirement, Unemployment in Old Age and Old Age Pension; Childcare and Social Benefits).

As of July 31, there was a monthly increase of 10,273 (ten thousand two hundred seventy-three) jobs on digital platforms.

This represents a 4.3% increase compared to the previous month.

The average daily wage is $415.60.

One year after the incorporation of digital platform workers into the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute), an increase of 115,059 jobs was registered, representing an 86.6% growth over these twelve months.
Those benefiting from the digital platform reform who did not exceed the monthly net income threshold are covered by workers’ compensation insurance, which protects them in case of accidents while commuting or illness during the performance of services provided through the digital platform. This insurance provides the right to 100% of their registered salary for the duration of their disability, in addition to medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and hospital care. 59,414 POSITIONS ENROLLED AS DOMESTIC WORKERS

During the month of July, 59,414 (fifty-nine thousand four hundred fourteen) positions associated with domestic workers were registered.

Of these 59,414 (fifty-nine thousand four hundred fourteen) positions, a total of 97,380 (ninety-seven thousand three hundred eighty) potential beneficiaries are expected.

The average daily wage associated with these positions is $510.9 (five hundred ten point nine pesos).

437,522 POSITIONS ENROLLED AS SELF-EMPLOYED WORKERS (VOLUNTARY INSURANCE)

During the month of July, 437,522 (four hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred twenty-two) positions associated with self-employed workers were registered.

Based on these positions, a total of 717,099 (seven hundred seventeen thousand ninety-nine) potential beneficiaries are estimated.

The associated average daily wage is $370.1 (three hundred seventy point one pesos).
Self-employed workers are covered by the five IMSS insurance programs (Sickness and Maternity; Occupational Risks; Disability and Life; Retirement, Unemployment in Old Age and Old Age Pension; Childcare and Social Benefits) for themselves and their legal beneficiaries.
